Re Install Qt Platform Plugin Windows

May 12, 2014 - Qt platform plugin 'windows'. Available platform plugins are: minimal, offscreen, windows. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Hi All, I have been working on an HP laptop with Windows 10 because games were installed on it and loaded up a bogus virus protection program which caused the laptop to become very sluggish and programs, browsers, etc. Would not load up or were taking an extremely long time to open up. Eventually I was able to remove the bogus program(s), other useless programs and the games that were downloaded that started the issue. Also I was eventually able to load CCleaner and cleaned up/fixed some errors.

I had to use an Avast and Malwarebytes removal tools as whatever caused the problem, would not let me do a complete uninstall of both programs. I was able to install new versions of Avast & Malwarebytes but they would not start because I get the following error(which has consistently popped up the whole time I have been working on the laptop when trying to open other programs) Pop-up error: This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin 'windows' Yes I did use Safe mode to do some of what I needed. I am looking to avoid a factory install but if that is the case, I will. Appreciate any assistance I can get.

Sometimes just don't want to do a reinstall, but should be done. The obvious doesn't always seem like the best answer.hahaha Hopefully the files they want to keep are not infected. Will back them up to a flash. Either way, be good to know how to fix this issue if it happens in an non-infected computer.I hear you and understand your thoughts.
